Dramatic Sunset over Castle of San Sebastian, Cadiz Spain

The sun is hidden, but the sky is on fire. Dark cloud breaks open over Cadiz and throws gold rays across the Atlantic, while Castle of San Sebastian sits as a black silhouette at the end of its stone causeway - lighthouse, ramparts, and lampposts drawn in one hard line against the light.

What you notice first is the light, not the stone. Heavy navy cloud fills the upper frame; through a gap the sun fans into long beams that rake the water. The shallows in the foreground hold that gold like a mirror, broken only by dark patches of rock and seaweed at low tide.

The fort does the rest of the work as silhouette. A tall lighthouse rises beside a lower defensive tower; the causeway curves in from the right, marked by a run of street lamps whose curved arms read as small black hooks against the sky. No window light, no tourist colour - only outline and weather on Cadiz's Atlantic tip.

Castle of San Sebastian sits offshore at the western end of La Caleta, linked to the city by that walkway when the tide allows. At dusk it becomes less a monument and more a shape: fort, tower, path, and reflected fire sharing one frame.
