Neda sits on the quiet side of the Ria de Ferrol, and the hill above it, Monte Ancos, is where the whole estuary finally makes sense. Climb to the viewpoint and the water stops being a shape on a map and becomes a long silver corridor, curling past shipyards and green hillsides before it opens into the Atlantic. Catch it at the right hour, as the sun drops behind the ridge, and the ria turns the color of the sky above it — soft pink fading into deep blue over a city that has spent five centuries building ships on the water below.
