A natural harbor since Phoenician times, La Caleta remains a working anchorage as much as a beach, and its small fishing boats are as much a part of the view as the castles that frame it. The scene has long drawn Cadiz's own musicians and poets, and at sunset it is easy to see why: the whole bay seems to catch fire for a few minutes before the light fades.
