From a hillside above the shore, the Ría de Pontevedra opens as a long silver wedge between terracotta roofs and distant hills. Clay tiles fill the foreground in overlapping planes; beyond them the estuary holds a quiet fleet of moored boats, a thin white wake cutting the water, and the dark rectangles of mussel bateas stretched across the bay.
