Sesín River Waterfall, A Capela, Galicia Spain
Sunlight breaks low through the canopy and lands right where the water splits around a fallen trunk, turning the spray gold for the few minutes a day the angle allows it. Moss climbs every rock and root along the banks of the Sesín river, holding onto the last of the day's warmth before the forest slides back into shade.

Subject: Forest waterfall on the Sesín river at sunset
Location: Sesín River (Fervenza da Mazoca), A Capela, Galicia, Spain
Medium: Photograph
Series: Galicia Landscapes
Streams like the Sesín thread through much of inland Galicia, cutting narrow channels through oak and eucalyptus woodland on their way down toward the coast. Heavy shade keeps the water cold and the moss thick year-round, and it's only for a short window around sunset that direct light reaches all the way down to the forest floor, briefly turning the falling water to gold before the canopy closes the gap again.
